Trasiego is a multilingual, participatory installation and soundscape of poetry, visual and digital art created by Dafne Blanco-Sarlay and Carmen Rodríguez –an exploration of issues related to uprooting and re-rooting, place, migration and memory. Marpole Neighbourhood House, in collaboration with the Vancouver Latin American Cultural Centre (VLACC) and the Indian Summer Festival ISM), will host Trasiego through the Fall and Winter of 2021. Every year, the YWCA Vancouver's "Women of Distinction Awards" honour individuals and organizations whose outstanding activities and achievements contribute to the well-being and future of our community. This year, Carmen Rodríguez has made the grade in the "Arts, Culture and Design" category!

Chilean-Canadian bilingual writer Carmen Rodríguez has been nominated for the YWCA Women of Distinction Award this year under the Arts, Culture & Design division for her trailblazing work in the field of literature. For full article, click here.

Homage :: In 2019, the Canadian Association of Spanish Language Scholars and Creators dedicated its annual Homage and Exhibition to my work as a writer, educator and activist! I felt extremely honoured by this recognition, particularly as it came from colleagues that I respect and admire. At the same time, it reminded me once again that we artists do not work and live in a vacuum; in fact, we are embedded in and are nourished by our communities.
